These coffee-pods are all a giant gizmo that needs to be erased from this world. It tastes nothing like a Moccamaster coffee, a premium coffee that is unreachable by your local coffee shop.

Design

The Moccamaster KBGV is created handmade in the Netherlands by one of the premium coffee maker brands : Technivorm. A fair use of metal, safe plastic and glass exposes the clean lines and sharp angles of the design. The colors, alternating from black and silver, gives the coffee maker the appearance of an ancient statue. It is a so attractive that I would say that it is one most beautiful coffee machine that I’ve seen.

Whether in its copper color or silver, the black color makes the rectangular base of the coffee maker looks like the base of the statue. Then the long extension in the air looks like the person represented by the statue then the coffee grain feeder extends over the glass brew basket that will receive the gracious coffee.

Looking at the brewing process will always be your favorite thing to do, seeing the grounded grains being fed onto the paper filter is just a pleasure, from the grinding to the coffee making, it is a premium experience that I would like to watch every day.

By about 10-15 seconds into the brewing process, the bubbles start slowing rising and releasing steam onto the coffee grains creating a perfect cup of tea every time. It is like a mozart concert, a crescendo that goes on as the water level reduces bit by bit. I’ve been mesmerized by the whole process of artistry displayed in front of my eyes, the sound of the bubbles slowly clashing against the others is just a bliss.

While the coffee flows down, you slowly realize that there’s a machine in-front of you but the sounds are not of machinery because the Moccamaster is a silent operator. The sounds are rather a bubbly flow slowly preparing an experience that is different every day.

Performance

I might have gotten inspired by such aesthetics but let’s look at how this coffee maker really faces the challenges, because the brew quality is the most important thing. You would think that the plastics used would leak a certain taste in your cup but they are highly graded European safe plastic which are safer than the ones in the United States. The ability of creating 10 cups of coffee while doing nothing is an amazing experience.

During our standard test of 4 cups, it did the brewing at around the same as Moccamaster advertises. The cycle took around 4 minutes and 54 seconds, almost 5 minutes. The temperature of the brewer reached around 250 degrees while being measured with a laser temperature meter, it kept a constant temperature all the way through the cycle.
